What it means
Written as G, followed by a number. Every pregnancy counts, whatever its outcome (birth, miscarriage, abortion) and including twins as one pregnancy and the current one. Para (P) is the number of pregnancies carried to 20 weeks or more. So a person pregnant for the third time, with two earlier births, is G3 P2.
In a chart
"G2 P1 at 39 weeks, in early labor."
