For the nurse
Before IV contrast, ask about allergies and past reactions, and check the kidney function (creatinine), because the dye can harm weak kidneys. Clients taking metformin may be told to hold it around the test. Encourage fluids afterward unless restricted, and watch for itching, hives or trouble breathing.
