What it means
An antifungal sold over the counter as creams, powders and vaginal suppositories for athlete's foot, jock itch, ringworm, diaper-area yeast and vaginal yeast infections. A buccal tablet treats thrush. Local burning and itching are the most common effects.
For the nurse
Teach the client to finish the full course and to keep the area clean and dry. Even vaginal use can raise the effect of warfarin, so clients on warfarin should tell their provider and watch for bleeding.
