What it means
TIW (or tiw) has been read as "three times a day" or "twice in a week," leading to doses given far too often or too rarely. ISMP lists it as error-prone.
For the nurse
Write "3 times weekly" and name the days when you can, such as "Monday, Wednesday and Friday."
