What it means
The word has two uses in nursing. When collecting data, to validate is to confirm it, for example by rechecking an unexpected blood pressure or asking the client to confirm what they said. In therapeutic communication, validating means telling a person their feelings make sense, such as "It sounds like this has been very frightening for you."
