analyze

To study information closely, piece by piece, to understand what it means.

AN-uh-lyz verb

What it means

In nursing, to analyze is to look at the data you have collected and work out what it means: which findings go together, which are expected and which are a concern. "Analyze cues" is one of the steps in the NCSBN Clinical Judgment Measurement Model that the NCLEX tests, coming after "recognize cues" and before "prioritize hypotheses".
