What it means
In nursing it has two common uses. A dose adjustment is a change in how much of a drug a client takes, often based on lab results, kidney function or weight. Adjustment also means the way a person copes with and gets used to a change, such as a new diagnosis, a loss or a move to a care facility.
For the nurse
Watch for problems with adjustment after a major life change: trouble sleeping, sadness, worry or withdrawal that is stronger than expected. Check orders for a dose adjustment against the latest lab values before giving the drug.
In a chart
