What it means
Often shortened to NGN. NCSBN redesigned the exam around its Clinical Judgment Measurement Model: recognizing cues, analyzing them, forming hypotheses, choosing solutions, acting and evaluating outcomes. Along with standard questions it uses case studies with several linked items and new formats such as matrix grids, drop-down sentences, highlighting text, drag-and-drop and bow-tie items. Many items can earn partial credit.
