  • What it’s for

Closes the hole in the common femoral arteryFEM-er-ul AR-ter-eeThe large artery that carries blood to the leg, running through the groin and down the thigh.Full entry or vein after a catheter or large sheathSHEETHA covering that wraps around a structure; in procedures, a short hollow tube left in a blood vessel to pass catheters through.Full entry without a cutdown, as in TAVR and peripheral VA-ECMO cannulation. For large sheaths it is used to pre-close: after access with a small dilatorDY-lay-terAn instrument used to stretch or widen an opening, canal or passage in the body.Full entry , usually two devices place their sutureSOO-cherA stitch, or the thread used to stitch, that holds the edges of a wound or incision together.Full entry around the puncture at the start, the sutures are clamped and set aside, and the access is then upsized. When the sheath or cannulaKAN-yoo-luhA thin tube placed into the body or a body opening to deliver or remove fluid or air.Full entry comes out over a wire, the knots are pushed down and locked in the order they were placed.
