The tined lead is a thin coiled wire with four electrodes near its tip, numbered 0 to 3, and four rows of soft plastic tines just behind them. The other end has four contacts that plug into the generator. It comes with a stylet, a thin directional guide wire with depth marks, and a lead introducer: a dilatorDY-lay-terAn instrument used to stretch or widen an opening, canal or passage in the body.Full entry inside a clear sheathSHEETHA covering that wraps around a structure; in procedures, a short hollow tube left in a blood vessel to pass catheters through.Full entry with a T handle and a markerMAR-kerSomething that can be measured, such as a substance in the blood, that shows a disease or body process is present.Full entry at the sheath tip.

Stylets come straight or curved. A curved stylet bends the tip so the lead can follow the S3 nerve.
